That inscrutability is intentional, intended to fuel the mystery and sense of wonder derived from. Do be weary that it contains some horror aspects and also stuff like spiders, loud horrifying sounds, and downright absurdly scary fish. Subnautica wasn't always great about explaining itself and Below Zero isn't much better. Overall its a very serene and calming game, with quite a few bugs, but don't be surprised when you hear a bloodcurdling scream from the other room as your kid is getting hunted down by a big fish. Craft equipment and submarines to explore lush coral reefs, volcanoes, cave systems, and more all while trying to survive. From what I've gathered through me and my Childs many playthroughs of the game is that it can teach you to manage resources, it pushes you to think more critically at times, and it teaches you that fighting back is both a valuable skill, and one that shouldn't be tested against the bigger threats in this game. Generally favorable reviews based on 38 Ratings Your Score 0 Summary: Descend into the depths of an alien underwater world filled with resources, creatures, wonder and threats. I would highly recommend it as i found the fact that at often times, it contradicts some messages thought frequently today. Even though it is terrifying at times, its overall a beautiful and deeply complex game in terms of story, mechanics, and the fact that you need to use your head in order to solve some puzzles and or challenges. Because its all fun and games until you get the life scared out of you for traveling a little too far from home. Subnautica has been around a while but seen a resurgence recently, so I decided to explore whether its still worth a play, all the way in 2021If youve got. For all these reasons, and some spoilery ones, Subnautica is at the top of my mental list of the greatest survival games. This game is for all ages but what really matters is if your child gets easily scared. I'd recommend buying, but only if it's on sale.I have no idea why some of the ratings here are anything below 10, some are even 4 and up. You will always have to grind away to a certain extent to gather. All in all, seems more of an expansion pack than a sequal. Subnautica's story, scares, and beautifully rendered underwater setting make it one of the most fascinating survival games around. Priced as the original game, but gameplay totals at around 1.5 days, in contrast to the original with 7+ days to finish main story. Review scoring amazing Subnautica: Below Zero is a leaner, meaner standalone expansion to Subnautica that improves on the story and mechanics, but doesnt give us as much room to explore. CONS: The storyline is somehow interesting, but not as deep nor intriguing as the original one - it's more of a flat story with no twists. NEUTRAL: Biomes are brighter and both biomes and creatures are far less scary. Few amazing new soundtracks that I'd genuinely listen to daily. PROS: Improved graphics, about 20% of game is played on land with new creative elements, new base elements and vehicles. Where it falls short by copying its predecessor is in the story and thematic department, making it feel like an uneventful and unimportant step in the series. Note: Unknown Worlds provided the copy of Subnautica: Below Zero used for this. Subnautica: Below Zero feels like more of Subnautica, and that is only a good thing to a certain extent. While it’s not quite as impressive as the original, which it takes heavily from, this is still a sizable journey well worth a deep dive. So I was super excited to see this sequel being released, and bought it as soon as it came out. This game is very fun, good, and is completely safe for your children If they have thalassophobia, they might get a bit scared (we all do) but it is a calm gam. Subnautica Below Zero works great as both a fascinating aquatic survival and crafting game, and an engaging sci-fi adventure. And it turned out to be one of the best survival games/stories I've ever played. And it turned I've discovered the original game purely by accident - as it was free for download, as a part of the 'Stay at home' initiative. I've discovered the original game purely by accident - as it was free for download, as a part of the 'Stay at home' initiative. The reason Subnautica is one of the best survival games is because it will get me to conquer that fear.
